Attention: Craft
Identity for an exhibition at one of Sweden’s most respected galleries
BACKGROUND:
Liljevalchs Konsthall is an almost 100-year-old independent public gallery for contemporary art. It displays art and design on the occasion of at least four large and lavish exhibitions each year. The summer exhibition of 2014 presented a range of magnificent craft artists and their work.
THE CASE:
We made the graphic identity entirely out of crafted materials all wrapped in a minimalistic surrounding. The word CRAFT was designed through custom lettering and entirely handmade with copper, marble, porcelain, wood and stone while the rest of the typography was kept simple and quiet. The production by hand and the choice of materials allowed us to mirror the content of the exhibition without taking the attention away from the artists. The exhibition opened with great success and both artists and visitors, as well as the gallery itself, felt that the identity really captured the essence of the exhibition.
