ICA Stop Täby – Branding, concept & design
Branding and concept for the leading supermarket in Sweden, turning it into a culinary dream come true.
We got a call from the leading grocery store in Sweden, ICA, or more precisely the ICA Stop store in Täby. A family business that knew they needed to change and become something else. Even though the staff was nice and the products in great quality the store was very messy and had every typeface and size you can imagine. We decided it was time to flip the grocery game on its head. We made a mashup dream team of Snask and the architect wizards at Westblom Krasse Arkitektkontor to make sure ICA Stop would go from your average messy supermarket to a forward-thinking culinary dream come true.
We started with freshing up the brand. The logo was redrawn and we also added the S symbol, making it a recognizable brand marker. Per usual we threw away the old ways of doing things and dialed up both colors, typography, design, architecture and fun. It resulted in a new shopping bag, signage, clothing, menus as well as a pink juice bar, a pastel green vegan butchers corner and new market hall that’s any foodie’s wet dream. The restaurant got a new place front and center, to become the beating heart of the store.
We fine tuned the entire space against a new backdrop of soothing soft blue allowing for the fresh produce to become the leading actor with its rainbow hues. The stainless steel counters adding pop and the terrazzo providing the class. The market hall slithering like a friendly serpent presenting an array of cheese, meats and cold cuts, guiding you through the culinary wonderland. We made sure to blur the lines between a regular supermarket and the nirvana of a chef, turning shopping into an experience.
